My Story

Hi, I’m Abbey! The owner and floral designer of Fleurs&Ink Floristry.

My journey into floristry began after having my little boy, who is now 3. I struggled with postnatal depression (probably didn’t help with a pandemic too) and I was encourage to get back to creativity by my family.

So, I took the plunge and signed up for a short course in Floristry at Myerscough College and from the first lesson I was hooked. I was now waking up in the middle of the night with less dread and thinking about flowers. Flowers were like therapy and I wanted to spread that joy.

I have practised at every opportunity possible ever since - learning new and sustainable ways to design, playing with style and ideas and sourcing local, British flowers and foliage. I take inspiration from the outdoors and natural lines of nature.

Besides flowers, I’ve always been into calligraphy and baking (my number one request is my lemon drizzle cake) but I’ve been trying other crafts too; such as sewing, embroidery, and crochet - am I old before my time? Maybe.

I’ve also started learning British Sign Language. I think it’s important to try and learn new skills and be completely inclusive to everyone in society. If I can make one persons life easier with BSL (especially if it’s for wedding flowers - how amazing would that be?!) then the time and effort is all worth it.

So if you ever fancy and brew (and a slice of lemon drizzle) and a chat about your flowers, get in touch x

Let’s chat
